Traditional Chinese international teachers ignore the importance of collaborative learning because student interaction is difficult to implement. This study focuses on the application of collaborative learning in Chinese classes. It aims to design specific target learners, learning objectives, learning processes, and learning results through the principle of problem-driven learning (PBL) and using the HSK Level 3 standard Chinese textbook as a template. It provides a good way for international Chinese teachers to implement collaborative learning in Chinese classes. Through collaborative learning, students can improve their spoken Chinese proficiency through interaction, and by solving problems together, students are encouraged to participate more actively in the learning process and cultivate students’ awareness of collaborative learning. This study is committed to presenting a specific collaborative learning Chinese classroom, presenting a good template for the classroom of international Chinese teachers, and providing beneficial cases of collaborative learning design in Chinese classrooms to promote innovation in Chinese teaching and improve students’ speaking abilities.
